Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

EAP is a comprehensive employee service that provides individual or group counseling, staff training and development programs, and, consultation services to individuals and organizations. We believe that by improving employee's health and mental well-being, productivity of individuals will be optimized.

Companies have the option of engaging TRaCS for the entire range of our EAP services or select specific component services to meet their individual requirements.

The services available in our Employee Assistance Program include the following:

Employee Counselling Service

Some of the problems that employees commonly face include stress, family/parenting issues, marital/relationship conflict, depression, anxiety, addiction problems, grief and loss issues as well as difficulty in coping with work. The Employee Counselling Service provides professional support for employees who may experience such problems. Appropriate referrals will be made for other professional assistance, when necessary.

The basic service package includes unlimited telephone counselling and, where needed, a limited number of face-to-face sessions with our trained counsellors. Employee information is strictly confidential. This counselling service can also be customized according to companies' needs.

Crisis Response Service

Traumatic incidents such as the sudden death or injury of a colleague, work-related incidents and industrial accidents are known to emotionally affect employees. For some individuals, the after-effects of these events can lead to psychiatric disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. Hence it is important that such affected employees receive early psychological first-aid to help them cope better with the distress from the experience.

TRaCS provides on-site professional psychological support to assist affected employees and their families in the event of a work-related crisis with post-incident psychological follow-up when needed. Our mental health professionals are trained in crisis intervention techniques using Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM).

CISM consists of a series of comprehensive and integrated system of early crisis interventions to address the psychological reactions that normally accompany critical incidents. These interventions may be directed at individual, small functional groups, larger groups, families or the whole organisation. CISM usually includes on-site assessment, strategic planning, large and small group crisis interventions, individual crisis intervention, organizational consultation and follow-up/referral services.

Mental Wellness Program

Maintaining a safe, pleasant and productive workplace is important in every organisation. Our Mental Wellness Program help to create awareness and promote healthy living to your employees through selection of health talks, workshops and seminars which are provided by our mental health professionals. Common topics include overcoming stress, anxiety, positive parenting, dealing with anger, grief, insomnia etc.

In addition, we are also recommend that organizations refer to our hospital’s Healthy Lifestyle packages for a holistic approach to addressing employee health at the workplace.

Peer Support Program

In early 2003, Changi General Hospital set up its very own Peer Support Program. This is a voluntary, systems-wide, peer-help, crisis counseling intervention to assist employee victims in dealing with the psychological aftermaths of work-related critical incidents or crises. It provides a range of crisis interventions for individual, groups and employee family needs.

The Peer Support Program provides an organizational framework for employees trained in crisis intervention to provide basic peer support and first line intervention for fellow colleagues. These trained employees can provide on-going support in the days after traumatic incidents as well as emotional support on a day to day basis.

TRaCS can also help companies who are interested in developing in-house crisis teams to set up their own individual peer support program as well as provide follow up trainings to ensure currency of skills of trained employees.
